COVID-19 SITUATION AN UPDATE FROM THE CHAIRMAN 

The current Coronavirus news presents worrying times for all of us in many ways. We all hope that the situation is contained and managed quickly and we hope that all Himley Cricket Club members, friends and families stay well and safe.

​We thought it worth updating you all on where Himley Cricket Club is at and the guidance that we are following.

​Of course, at this time of year we’d normally be in final pre-season preparation mode and all desperately looking forward to warmer days and the prospect of cricket at our Stourbridge Road Facility. However, we are responsibly following guidance from the ECB and Birmingham Premier & District and Worcester Cricket League which affects the coming season and our preparations for it.

Pre-season training
In line with ECB advice we have cancelled all senior and junior pre-season training.

Summer coaching
At present, it’s difficult to say when junior and senior training and coaching will begin. We’ll let everyone know as soon as Government or ECB advice allows this to start. We are desperate to get going, of course

Season 2020
We can safely say that the 2020 season will be affected by the current situation. At present we do not know what extent that will be. As you will read from the ECB guidance below, all cricket is to be suspended until further notice. Once again, we’ll be taking advice from the ECB and will update you all as soon as we can if this changes.If you don’t already, please follow the Himley Cricket Club social channels (links below) to ensure you are kept fully up to date.

The Clubhouse and playing facilities
It is with great sadness that we have, following the government’s announcement, closed the clubhouse, the net practice and playing facilities. We will update you further when we have updates on when the club can re-open. In the meantime the playing facilities are being maintained to enable us to proceed when and if directions are issued by the ECB.

Finances
The committee have engaged with all financial help that is being offered at this time. It is hoped that we will be financially stable should that financial assistance be forthcoming. However if any of you wish to pay their club membership at this time it will assist our cash flow position.

SENIOR WINTER TRAINING STARTS

Tuesday 21st January at Summerhill School, Kingswinford, DY6 9XE. Due to capacity we have to split the nets into two sessions 6:30pm - 7:45pm and then 7:45pm - 9:00pm.

The sessions will be open to next years U16’s and above.
