Himley’s Junior Section was reformed 19 years ago and in that time has grown from 1 team to now running teams at every age from 9 through to 17 with dedicated girl’s teams at under 13 +15 and the opportunity to also play in mixed cricket for all ages.
We pride ourselves on having a completely open door policy, anyone can attend our weekly training sessions which in 2021 will take place on Friday Evenings 6.30pm till 8.00pm through to September. There is no need to book a place just call in on a Friday or if you need more information call Matt Wall on 07814 624599 or contact us here
Whilst the junior section has been successful season to date, we are still actively recruiting at all ages but particularly school years 4, 5 + 6. We have found that the earlier children start to train with us the better and we take children generally from the ages of 6, sometimes younger if they can cope. On Friday nights the children are split by ability and age and work to a carefully structured training programme.
Children from the age of 13 are encouraged to play senior open age cricket and we run six teams on a Saturday with as many as 40 to 50 Under 16's playing each weekend.
Our first senior team plays in The Birmingham District League which is the highest level we can attain without becoming a county and we are proud that many players in that team have come from the junior section.
Our Junior section was the first county in Worcestershire and the second in Staffs to attain the coveted Clubmark Status which ensures that all of our coaches are qualified, insured, trained in first aid and DBS / CRB checked. We have as many as 30 coaches (including two female coaches) within the club ranging from ECB level 4 down to Assistant Coach and encourage all of our juniors to begin coaching once they reach the age of 16.
We pride ourselves on being part of the community, a family club but also enabling all to achieve their full potential. We are also always keen to involve parents to run teams, take coaching courses become administrators it is your club come and join us.
